As the first jetliner developed by China in accordance with international airworthiness standards and with independent intellectual property rights, C919 has attracted wide attention in the international aviation industry. As the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) continues to accelerate the production and delivery of the C919 passenger jet, the future prospects of the C919 are becoming clearer.
The whole process of the C919 from design to production demonstrates China’s technological accumulation and innovation capability in the aviation manufacturing industry. With 158 to 192 seat class design, the range of 4075 to 5555 kilometers, not only covers the needs of domestic major cities, but also has the potential to open up international routes.
The construction of the C919 final assembly line is accelerating. The second final assembly line has been preliminarily built and entered the trial production stage. On the first assembly line, four C919s have successfully completed production, and are now undergoing ground tests and 100 hours of verification flights to ensure that all performance indicators meet the predetermined standards.
The plan to build four new final assembly lines is under implementation, with a total budget of 11.955 billion yuan. This construction will significantly increase the C919’s production capacity and provide a strong guarantee for responding to the needs of domestic and international markets. The construction of the new final assembly line not only improves production efficiency, but also lays the foundation for future large-scale deliveries.
In the production process, the configuration and optimization of each process is the key to ensure high-quality production. The new assembly line combines advanced production management technology and intelligent manufacturing means to improve the level of automation and work efficiency. Using big data and artificial intelligence technology, every link in the production process can be refined management, thereby improving product reliability and consistency.
The application of various new technologies not only improves the production speed, but also ensures the stability of product quality. Through the introduction of more advanced testing equipment and testing methods, the safety of the finished product is further improved. Before leaving the factory, every aircraft needs to go through strict ground testing and flight verification to ensure its safety and reliability in actual use.
With the gradual production of new final assembly lines, C919 production capacity will continue to increase to better meet market demand. Under the premise of ensuring product quality, improving production efficiency and shortening delivery cycle will be an important direction for the future development of COMAC. By continuously optimizing the production process and management mode to further enhance product competitiveness, the C919 is expected to occupy a larger share in the international market.
Order surge and delivery schedule
Orders for the C919 have hit record highs, with the total number now exceeding 1,061. China Eastern Airlines, Air China and China Southern Airlines have placed orders for 100 more aircraft. Major domestic airlines such as Jinpeng Air, Urumqi Air and Tibet Airlines have also ordered dozens of them.
According to the delivery plan, from 2024 to 2031, COMAC will gradually deliver C919 aircraft to the three major airlines in accordance with the framework of the agreement. In the first year, 10 aircraft are scheduled to be delivered to China Eastern Airlines, 5 to Air China and 5 to China Southern Airlines. This batch delivery plan ensures the capacity increase of major domestic airlines and indicates that the C919 is about to enter large-scale operation.
